25 Must Try Drinks!
I remember hearing the older generations talk about having a hot toddy in the evening, but I didn’t appreciate them until I started appreciating bourbon. A traditional hot toddy is a mixture of a spirit (usually whiskey, rum, or brandy), hot water, and honey (or, in some recipes, sugar). Here is my favorite hot toddy recipe.
First, I brew a nice spiced tea. My favorite is an orange spice herbal tea. I like herbal so you have caffeine. If you’d like the energy, Constant Comment pairs nicely with this drink.
Add 1.5 ounces of Bulleit Rye (It’s nice and smooth, and a little on the sweet side)
Add some honey - I always recommend local honey. I like the taste of a good local honey, so I tend to pour a little heavy here.
Lemon or orange slice. I like the fresh citrus. It adds a little depth to the drink.
This is a great drink on a cold winter night, or a brisk Sunday morning brunch. My grandmother used to say this was a great drink when you had a cough or cold. I can’t speak to its medicinal properties, but it sure will make you feel better!
